November 15th, 2009 -- Fall Crew Banquet. We came together to celebrate the completion of a successful fall season. We gave thanks to those that graduated and moved on from Case Crew. We would give special thanks to our former president Jessica
for all her dedication to the prosperity of Case Crew. Best of luck to all of you!
Here is what Coach Patty has to say about Jess:
I have known Jess since her freshman year and have watched her grow as a person and a rower over these 4 years.
Jess epitomizes ÃÂÃÂwhere thereÃÂÃÂs a will, thereÃÂÃÂs a wayÃÂÃÂ. This is someone who has succeeded in completing double majors in 3ÃÂý yrs at Case as well a preparing for and securing her spot for med school in the fall. All while actively competing in crew, holding Case crew offices including club president (which is no small feat) and being part of a sorority, the band, Case EMS and IÃÂÃÂm sure other things IÃÂÃÂve left out.
[Have you seen her electronic signature lately?] Ha Ha J
Jess has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty for this team, all with a certain calm and coolness. SheÃÂÃÂs like the duck that appears to be casually floating along but is really paddling like hell under the surface! (yes Jess, I likened you to a duck but in the best possible way and it gives a visual)
You know as coaches we suggest joining a local rowing club over the summer to stay fit, but Jess didnÃÂÃÂt stop there. Not only did she join a club but spent last summer training and competing, culminating with Masters Nationals. When Jess puts her mind to it, thereÃÂÃÂs no stopping her and you can rest assured that it will be done right with an ever understated dedication and determination.
Jess itÃÂÃÂs been a joy getting to know you and having the opportunity to row with, (be coxed by) and coach you. I have no doubt you will succeed in all you do.
As an alum and friend, I highly expect to row with you again!
And it canÃÂÃÂt go without being said, ÃÂÃÂGive them Hell!ÃÂÃÂ
Patty

October 24th, 2009 -- Speakmon Regatta. The women's team won a medal in every event they entered. The women's open 4+ of Jessica Schneider, Sarah Rubin, Margaret Wilkes & Katie Puttmann with Kenji Ishida won gold. Bringing sliver medals home were Margaret Wilkes and Katie Puttmann in the Open Pair and the Women's Collegiate Novice Four. For the women's Novice Eight, Case and Cleveland State joined forces and placed third. On the men's side, the Open Eight had a strong performance and took sixth overall. In their first race ever for Case, the Novice Eight finished a strong sixth only one second behind Ohio University.
